Jennifer Lawrence Set to Take the Plunge in New Diving Film

Last week it was announced that Jennifer Lawrence, star of Hunger Games, is set to reunite with the Hunger Games Director Francis Lawrence for a new romantic drama “The Dive”.

The project, which James Cameron, Avatar director, has been developing since 2001, centers around the real-life figures Francisco Ferreras and Audrey Mestre. Mestre was a French Freediving record holder and unfortunately died at the early age of 28 following an attempted dive to 500ft without breathing apparatus.

In 2006 Ferreras was directly blamed for Mestre’s death by dive co-organiser Carlos Serra in his book “The Last Attempt”. However the current title of proposed retelling hints at an alternative point of view; it follows the title of Ferras’ own 2004 book “The Dive: A Story of Love and Obsession”.

Jennifer Lawrence reportedly has an offer to star in “The Dive” though it is not known how far negotiations have reached.

In other news there will also be another diving film coming out called “The Bends” which will star Rasamund Pike and Joel Kinnaman. They will be directed by Jean Luc Herbulot on a diving adventure film about “a mysterious discovery at the bottom of the ocean that reopens old issues for an ex-Combat Marine who is working to pay off his debt to the mob”.
